Our Village Talk sessions are a great marketing opportunity for projects, whereas, for the community, it’s a great time to get some sweet alpha.
Last week we held three Village Talk sessions:
Mondays Are For DeSci
Last week, we had Erik Vanwinkle from DeSci Labs join us for a DeSci AMA session.
Make sure to check out the recording to learn all about how DeSci Lab’s DeSci nodes are enabling a transparent ledger for scientific records, thereby empowering scientists to form Autonomous Research Communities (ARCs) that operate on this ledger of scientific research.
Expert Talk & Project Pitches
For last week’s Expert Talk session, we had Multifarm Finance join us to talk all about “Treasury Dashboard Management”.
We followed this conversation with two new project pitches:
Fringe Finance: a platform that enables users to borrow against their crypto holdings, “easily, and on your own terms”.
Gagarin World: “the launchpad of the future”. Gagarin enables users to invest in select projects that launch their IDOs on the platform, while also offering guidance & expertise to the select teams.
AMA with Dispatch
Last Thursday, we hosted a special AMA session featuring Dispatch, an on-chain messaging and analytics platform. Make sure to listen to the conversation to learn all about how you can “learn your community” with their platform.

Polygon Q3 Quarterly Report
Network Analysis:
During Q3, Polygon saw 2.75M transactions per day, which is 2x the amount on Ethereum, and in terms of users, they were able to reach about 300K daily users. Both of these stats have remained stable quarter over quarter.
Total Value Locked
Although Polygon was able to surpass Avalanche and Solana, the network still saw a decrease in TVL, as was the case with the rest of the web3 ecosystem at large. Today, TVL is sitting at around $1.3B.
However, when adjusting for the change in asset price (MATIC), TVL has actually remained flat, rather than having decreased.
Polygon Ecosystem In Q3
Following on their year-long momentum, Polygon has once again, for another quarter, been able to partner with big-name brands. The added names from this past quarter include:
Mercedes
Disney
Robinhood
Starbucks
HTC
Reddit
You can check out the complete Q3 report here, and for those that would like to compare these Polygon numbers to other L1 chains, you can check out this report here, which was done by The Tie.
Web3 Marketing
Over the past several weeks, we’ve been diving into the different verticals Polygon DAO has to offer when it comes to service vouchers. So far, we’ve looked at Storage & Hosting, Accounting, Payment gateway, Cross-chain tooling, and Audits, but today we’re going to be diving into one of the aspects that can really determine the long-term fate of a project - marketing.
What Is Web3 Marketing
Web3 marketing is the promoting and selling of crypto-related products or services. There are many different marketing strategies, such as social media marketing, blogs, memes, videos, and many others, however, the goal is always to increase brand awareness, obtain and keep customers (protocol users in the case of web3), and ultimately improve sales and revenue. Of course, there is a lot that goes on in the process, such as identifying the correct target audience and creating the right communication channels.
Although many of the web2 techniques are still prevalent in web3, there are some differences one must take into mind. This includes the lingo that is used in web3 (WAGMI, GM, etc), as well as the communication channels involved. Web3 is more focused on Twitter, Discord, and Reddit, whereas web2 is more focused on FB, Instagram, etc.
Why Is It Important For Projects?
There are several different reasons why a project should have a clear marketing strategy, some of which include:
Long-term brand building
Establishing a strong, loyal community (community is everything in web3)
Trust building between the user and project
Polygon Village Marketing (Content Creation) Partners
Polygon DAO has partnered with five web3 marketing agencies to help projects with content creation, and increasing reach:

Village story #10 ~ Dispatch
Today we’re going to take a look at Dispatch, an on-chain messaging and analytics platform that just recently partnered with Polygon DAO, in an effort to increase the communications process with our fellow grantees.
What Is Dispatch
“The Mailchimp of web3”, Dispatch is an on-chain messaging and analytics platform that aims to connect communities with their user base.
As any web3 user knows, there is a ton of information one must keep up with. Whether it be for newly launched defi pools, a new mainnet release, potential contract vulnerabilities, or anything else. Today, most of us get this information from Twitter or Discord, as this is the place where the team usually unveils new information, however, Dispatch aims to create a better alternative.
Dispatch enables teams to reach their token holders and users on-chain, in a format that reaches the user directly in the wallet.
How Dispatch Works
Rather than focusing on one-to-one messaging, as other messaging protocols do, Dispatch focuses on one-to-many messaging. They’re mainly focused on connecting teams to their users. Not only that, but teams will also be able to extract any meaningful data they gather in order to build their own Dune style analytics dashboard.
Although messaging is restricted for teams only, individual users will still be able to use the Dispatch app. You’ll be able to not only see a list of all the communities listed on the site, but you’ll also be able to click in and see the token holders and user base of the communities they’re a part of.
Dispatch x Polygon DAO
As you may know, Polygon Village offers monthly grants to select projects that apply to the program. Part of this process of course involves communicating with the different grantees.
Polygon DAO has recently partnered with Dispatch to send “thank you” messages to all grantees, with the August grant recipients being the first to receive these.
This is just the beginning of the partnership, but I would expect more and more of the DAO’s communications towards grantees to be carried out on-chain over time. Proof of Applications are coming.

For anyone around the San Francisco area, there will be a zero-knowledge proof workshop at UC Berkeley, on October 30th. It’s a goated list of zk-tech speakers, including Polygon Hermez and Polygon Zero team members.
